For the collar I was inspired by the collection of Latex designer Dayne Henderson seen at Torture Garden  for his use of square shape in its design.

This article celebrate a year of magical artistic collaboration with Bar 90. I met the events manager Olivia Casamatta more than a year ago through my flatmate.  At the time they were looking for a crazy and kitsch girl to host their Bingo. My flatmate was "I know the perfect girl for you".  The first time I cycled to Hackney Wick in the heart of the winter, arriving among theses imposing Warehouses I thought I was lost and that Jack the Ripper would sprung out from the foam and strangle me. But, after a few trip there,  it become a very familiar place with its creative vibe and Bar 90 team became like a big family. More than being an amazing venue with awesome music and cocktails, they always try to promote creative events, inviting artists to perform and exhibit.   So after few Bingo, they asked me to perform few time with a total trust of what I will do and what I will wear! Bar 90 has been an amazing platform me for developing my creativity and experiment with performance..and they are very generous with drinks tokens!

For this special Bingo anniversary edition I decided to make this presents dress. I ordered 100 of jewellery box online and stitched them on by one on the dress, and the head piece. A hoop is supporting the weight of the boxes on the skirt.

In theory the bingo prizes should have been inside the box and the winner would have to look for his surprise directly on the dress. But the majority of the prizes were to big for the boxes and the despite of my heart stickers reminders to know which box contains what, during the show I couldn't remember what stickers correspond to what and couldn't find the presents inside the box and had to open all of them on stage so didn't really worked!

On the saturday Bar 90 held a massive party for their first anniversary, and I turned the Bingo dress into a costume based performance. With my acolyte Simon Dodi  from LuxuriouxSnacks we  hid sweets and confetti in the boxes and went through the guest asking them to open the boxes and throng confetti at people ( between that and the glitters I am sure Bar 90's cleaning lady hate us!)

Simon risked his like for this picture,  please if you are a child don't try this at home! For the birthday  boy theme he created this bow tie with a birthday ballon and some candles. So the candle are not on a cake but part and parcel of the garment.  For taking the picture, we can only lit the candles for few second before the smoke burns Simon's face!

Then I got changed for the candy performance with Loulou Reloulou
For the first anniversary of Bar 90, the idea was to create a performance that could accompany the cake.  And a birthday party without sweets on the table is not a birthday party!

For the performance we danced on the stage on "Candy Shop" by 50 Cent. The idea was to divert  the  misogynist lyrics of the macho hip hop song into an  offbeat version as the we were not dancing in bikini but in surrealist crazy costume showing  a more powerful and mysterious vision of women.

Then we were coming to the audience eating the candy directly on the dress being "eating alive" being like walking buffet.

Katy Perry had incredible kawaii lolcore costumes for her video clip California Gurls

Example of  couture dress made with  Haribo or candy packaging

Candy is associated to sweetness and childhood but as a dress it became quite sensual and erotic as sin of gluttony.

The floor of my studio became covered with candy packaging and sugar as we opened every single packet to visualise the colours range for our composition.  We were eating a lot of candy while stitching them to the dress which created a sweet synesthesia  between the visual aspect of the dress and its taste.  Taste is not often involved in fashion as you usually don't use perishable commodities but is add another dimension to the way you approach your garment.

For making the dress, First we met at Poundland to supply ourself in sweets.  We looked like two bulimics doing some compulsive shopping and came back home with 42  packs of sweets. We tried to define our character according to our personalities. I chose to be "Dame Guimauve" a more sweet and who turned into a decadent baroque Marie Antoinette.  For Loulou, we saw something more slightly acid as she is like is always bubbly and buzzing with energy.  So I choose  pink marshmallow tones and Loulou more pop and citrus colours.

We had very little time to do the dress as you don't want to do it too long before as the candy can become sticky with the humidity. In the the night we had to envelope the dress in plastic foil in order to conserve it.

For Half Baked record party at the Oval Space in Bethenal Green we created this psychedelic Tim Burtonish clowns performance.  Some kind of creepy fashion clowns on acid.

We danced on the stage and had some helium gallons attached to our costumes.  gradually we were cutting the balloons' ropes and giving them to the audience.

Heart dress

When I make a dres I really likes I wear it several times in a row for different events, Originally I made this dress for Valentines times. and I wore it for the Hackney Bingo Club,  London Fashion Week, Louche Woman event at Selfrigdes and Torture Garden.

This picture are taken in Welsh mountain Snowdonia. We needed  6 hours driven from London and 1 hour and a half walk to arrive to the location, the hikers thought I was inventing a new sport "costume hiking".

Despite the sun, at the top of the mountain the wind was fringing and I haven't been has cold in my entire life, but the best picture are always the one where the model is dying of cold  as we needed the wind to fly in the dress as a the flag of love!

The girl is carrying seven red roses and is desperately looking for her lost love in the mountains
For this dress, I was inspired by Agatha Ruiz de la Prada use of vivid colour and amazing structure:

have also been inspired by Bas Kosters spring/summer collection…Love! When Bas Kosters and his partner broke up after a nine year relationship last year Bas felt he just had to do something with love. When he was ready to leave his grief behind he tattooed the word ‘love’ on his chest and moved on. He used his broken heart experience for his new collection, named Love Fuck Yeah, inspired by the love of his family and friends, the love for himself and his work that strengthened him.

At London fashion week people's reaction were nearly hysterical. I always find it interesting to appear to LFW with an outfit which is between fashion and costume, usually it is quite eye catching amount amount the minimalistic all in black try elegant fashionista,  even if LFW is known for its eccentricities!

I enjoyed working on the collar of my Grayson Perry dress made with foam covered by sequin fabric so I decided to apply the method to a whole dress.
The idea was to create a dress expressing the feeling of love visually but also by touch. Indeed, I choose some very soft material like velvet or fake pink fur.  And the foam make it as is you are wearing hundreds of pillow. You loos so comfy that people want to you you, to touch your dress and take you in your arm which is the manifestation of love!

The process was very long as you need to cut the shape of heart on the foam than stitch by hand a piece of fabric to it.  One heart take 30 minutes to make. Fortunately I was helped by Nahye Jo and Loulou Reloulou.

To obtain this patchwork of red and pink, I use only scrap pieces of fabrics from my previous creations (for example some scrape of the duchess satin of my lego dress) in my aim to use mainly recycled material.

All to pictures have been taken by my friend Marie Paola who as now photographed me for 3 fashion weeks (and I hope more) She is my favourite street style photographer and always capture some beautiful moment where the viewer can make his own story.

At school, someone made fun of me because I was wearing pink and red together, colours that are supposed to clash, but the LFW backdrop and my dress prove her wrong years after!

At Louche women event in Selfridges with the magical hosts Sue Kreitzman and Caroline Smith. the theme was Fifty Shades of Grey so I wore my "Fifty Shades of Red" dress.

With Anthony Lycett at Torture Garden Valentine Balls, the must of this costume is the matching red glitter eyebrows. The costume was in the theme but not really handy to move around thousands of people with its big crinoline.  (I think I was the girl with the biggest amount of fabric on her body of the party!)

Natacha Marro London is my favourite shoes designer, showy spectacular, very high heels but always so comfortable. I am so luck y to be able to wear them for photoshoot and fashion week! I made my own interpretation of her glittery platform shoes with barbie shoes turning them into earrings, like that Natacha Marro can literally "prendre ses jambes à son cou"
